IIAM's Education Network

One of the primary goals of the Independent Insurance Agents of Maryland is to provide a wide range of educational opportunities for its members. The President and 7 qualified, approved instructors, serve to develop and present seminars and workshops throughout the State of Maryland. Currently, the IIAM has 40 classroom seminars filed in Maryland for continuing education credits and 34 online seminars. We offer two designation programs: Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR) program and the Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) program. We also offer the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS)certificate program. In addition to the continuing education seminars, we offer both Property/Casualty and Life/Health licensing.

New CE Law

Effective 10/1/2009:

  • Licensed insurance producers are now required to have 24 hours of continuing education.
  • Three (3) hour mandatory Ethics requirement (included in the 24 total hours).
  • Those insurance producers who hold both a P/C & L/H license are required to do a minimium of 6 hours in P/C and 6 hours in L/H. The remaining 12 hours can be done in either L/H or P/C.

Effective 10/1/2008:

  • If you did not have 25 consecutive years by 10/1/2008, you will need 24 hours of continuing education credits.
  • Those that had 25 years before 10/1/2008 and only need 8 hours are still required to obtain the mandatory 3 hours of Ethics.
